An economy car earns its cost inside the city and on surfaced inter-city roads: Guéliz, Hivernage, the medina ring road, and the tarmac runs to Essaouira, Casablanca and Agadir. For mountain passes and pistes, a raised 4x4 is the better fit.
Parking in Guéliz and Hivernage
Guéliz and Hivernage were laid out with narrow parallel bays and tight derb turnings. A Sandero or Clio fits spaces where a Touareg or Evoque cannot, and the smaller footprint matters most at hotel drop-off.
The coast road to Essaouira
The N8 to Essaouira is surfaced for its full 175 km, about 2 h 30 of driving. A manual petrol hatchback holds the motorway speed easily and costs less to fuel than an SUV over that distance.
The motorway run to Casablanca
